RECOMMENDED VOLUME MIX PROPORTIONS
The following recommended mix proportions have been put on the back of each bag to help with good quality concrete for every need.
STORAGE
All cement bags should be kept dry.
Cement bags are not waterproof and should be kept undercover, off a concrete floor, away from open windows and should not be stacked higher than 12 bags.
HINTS:
WATER
The strength of the concrete is greatly influenced by the amount of water added to the mix. The more water that is added the weaker a given mix will be. For this reason water must be controlled and the minimum water required to give a workable mix must be used to ensure consistent good quality concrete.
MIXING
Measure all materials accurately with a builders wheelbarrow or bucket. Ensure all dry materials are mixed thoroughly, to give a consistent colour throughout the mix before adding water.
NOTE: 2 bags of cement = 1 builders wheelbarrow
CURING
Curing means keeping the concrete moist. To prevent cracking and to ensure a proper strength development concrete must be cured for at least seven days. This can be done by simply covering the concrete with plastic sheeting or continuously wetting the concrete with a fine mist spray.
SAND & STONE
Sand and stone must be clean and free of twigs, grass or other material.
